Tax day

I've already done mine months ago, of course. Granted the Federal and State governments owes me money so I didn't hesitate for a second as soon as all the W2s were in my mailbox. Even if I did owe money, I probably wouldn't have waited until the last possible day like lots of people tend to do (April 15th isn't practically a holiday without reason). Because I understand that taxes, whether I owe or expect a return, is money I've already made - it isn't something extra, nor is it some sort of penalty. If I could set up my tax forms so that I end up at absolute zero (no return but don't owe any either), I totally would.

I suspect people that make a big fuss over tax day are those that haven't got their financial house in order.

Black Day

Saw Captain America 2 this past weekend, and it was a fantastically entertaining movie. As a big fan of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, I obviously enjoyed it as I did with all the other ones. You've got to head into these movies without any expectations of complex/interesting plot-lines or intense character development; all of it is merely there to entertain you. Waiting impatiently the next one, Guardians of the Galaxy, this coming August.

Great weekend of baseball for the Giants. I still can't believe Bumgarner hit that grand slam; definitely not something you see everyday. That Crawford walk-off home-run into the water on Sunday was equally unexpected. The Giants has got an intricate and interesting offense, that's for sure. The team is currently leading the majors in home-runs collectively! Pretty crazy considering the team isn't exactly known for hitting home-runs these past seasons.

How I get caffeinated

I prefer a nice, bespoke cup of absurdly priced coffee (or its derivatives) as anybody, and living in San Francisco I'm spoilt for choice. But like purchasing alcohol at a club, I can't help but feel like I'm dumping money into the ocean with those fancy coffee products. Once in a good while is fine, of course; a daily occurrence is questionable at best, especially if the endgame is merely to get caffeinated.

I do love and appreciate the highly artisan stuff, though.

For everyday purposes, I get my caffeine fix with my trusty Mr. Coffee machine and that industrial-sized bag of pre-ground beans from Costco. Sure it's probably the next worst coffee making method to instant mixes, but as I've said, caffeine is the important part, and I'm just trying to procure it on a daily basis as quick and efficient as possible. If I can take it intravenously, I would.

What if

I would I do if I knew I could not fail? So many things. And I'm going to do all of it, too. Catharsis is the only sort of drug I get behind.

Looking forward to watching Captain America this weekend. Should have watched it the previous weekend because this week's Marvel Agents of Shield contained major spoilers. Good thing I was never one to be too bothered by spoilers. A person told me Dumbledore died before I had the chance to read the book and I wasn't nearly as hysterical as some people got.

Lazy sunday

Woke up early and did the usual Sunday morning run. Found out that going at a 8:3x per mile pace is just not in the cards for me yet. By the fourth mile I was struggling in spectacular fashion.

As always, it’s wonderful to see so many people on their fitness grind. Even if they’ve only got time to exercise on the weekends, it’s very much worth it isn’t it. Always treat and take care of yourself first; the other stuff will follow. Not so good having lots of money in the bank when you suffering from heart diseases now is it?

Stay fit; you owe it to yourself.

Hump day

We've had almost torrential levels of rain earlier this week and well so much for that because it looks to be a scorcher of a weekend (relative to San Francisco, of course). I don't particularly like running in the sun so I may have to push up my start time this Sunday.

The past few evenings have been excellent now that baseball is back on the television. It's a lovelier day when you know there's around three hours of baseball to look forward to.

It's good be back at work again after taking the previous week off for spring break. Knocked out a few blog posts for the car blog after taking a week off that as well. Sometimes we just need a break, don't we.

I'm not happy about the HIMYM finale

The How I Met Your Mother series finale was an absolute let-down. I didn't like the mother had to die. I didn't like the producers threw away many years of Barney's character development (to me that baby scene was incredibly contrived). I didn't like that Ted got back together with Robin at the end when the entire 9th season set the audience up for Ted finally letting go of Robin. The pay-off simply isn't at all satisfactory both on a story and emotional level.

I understand they shot the final scene during the first season, and the producers intended on using that scene no matter how long the show runs. But nine seasons is a very long time; things change, characters change. The intended ending just didn't fit the narrative that's been developed over so many years. Like I said, I understand it, but I'm not happy about it.
